TeamSmile is the nation’s premier advocacy group that partners oral health professionals with professional athletic organizations to provide life-changing dental care to underserved children in our communities. By partnering with professional sports organizations, we create an experience that develops bonds between children’s organizations, oral health professionals, surrounding communities, and the athletes that solidify the message that oral health care is vitally important to long-term health. Through this experience, children receive free oral health education, screening, treatment, and are taught that the mouth and body are linked to overall health.
In 2007, Henry Schein was on the ground floor of the evolution of TeamSmile. Dr. William Busch came up with the concept of helping area children receive free dental care utilizing local professional sports teams. He partnered with Henry Schein’s Jason Krause, along with other oral health companies and dental professionals, to organize a program with the Kansas City Chiefs that would provide dental care to underserved children with the helpful impact of professional sports franchises, their players, their venues, their mascots, and their cheerleaders. The idea has taken off and to date, TeamSmile has now conducted over 275 programs, served over 55,000 children, and provided over $20 million in free dental care and oral health education.
