What to Expect at a TeamSmile Program

Delivering Dental Care, Creating Smiles, and Changing Lives—One Child at a Time

Program Timeline

TeamSmile programs are high-energy, impactful events designed to deliver top-quality dental care in a fun and engaging environment.

Below is a general outline of how the day unfolds, including setup, program flow, and end-of-day logistics.

Day Before the Program: Setup

Our team, along with volunteers, prepares the space and equipment needed to create a fully functioning mobile dental clinic.
Estimated Setup Time: ~4 hours (dependent on volunteer turnout)

Setup Activities Include:

  • Unloading and parking the TeamSmile truck

  • Setting up dental equipment and supplies

  • Testing equipment to ensure readiness for the next day

Program Day Timeline

Morning Arrival & Prep

  • 7:00 AM: TeamSmile staff arrive

  • 7:30 AM: Henry Schein technical team arrives to assist with equipment

  • 7:45 AM: General volunteers arrive and check in

Program Orientation

  • 8:30 AM: Full program orientation for all volunteers

  • 8:45 AM: Volunteers break into specific areas for instructions

  • 9:00 AM: Children begin arriving

Child’s Dental Visit Flow

Each child will move through the following stations as part of their dental care experience:

  1. Check-In

  2. Dental Screening Exam

  3. X-Rays (if needed)

  4. Restorative Treatment (if needed – fillings, extractions, etc.)

  5. Preventive Services (cleanings, sealants, fluoride varnish)

  6. Check-Out

Entertainment & Activities

While waiting or after treatment, children can enjoy a variety of fun and interactive activities:

  • Dancing and music

  • Face painting

  • Educational breakouts

  • Meet-and-greets with professional athletes, cheerleaders, and team mascots

Volunteer Lunch

A boxed lunch will be available for all volunteers.

Once you’ve completed your station duties or shift rotation, you’re welcome to pick up your lunch and enjoy it at your convenience. This grab-and-go format helps ensure that all program areas remain fully staffed throughout the day—so every child receives the care and services they deserve.

End of Program

  • 3:00 PM (or when last child is finished): Program concludes

  • 3:00 – 5:00 PM: Tear-down and equipment pack-up

  • 5:00 PM: Load truck and complete breakdown
